Yesterday, a drive into a magical wonderland to Monteleone of Spoleto in the region of Umbria bordering the region of Lazio. The town, where the original "Biga" was discovered (the chariot used for parades, not for war use) was actually discovered in the grounds of the agriturismo where we had lunch. A copy of this famous "Biga" is housed in Monteleone, whereas the original is in the New York Metropolitan Museum. From Perugia it takes about an hour and twenty minutes to drive there, and what a gorgeous drive it is. Difficult not to continually stop to take photographs, magnificent countryside, together with the lakes of fog while driving up to the town. Here, photographs while driving and then at an amazing "real" agriturismo, "Colle del Capitano" (farmhouse restaurant/hotel) situated in the middle of trees and country roads and where we were treated with great hospitality and ate the most delicious foods and tasted homemade liquors. An original and most pleasant day to be always remembered.
Magnificent sky while driving the highway
Isolated houses in the countryside
The first views of fog between the trees
"Lakes" of fog that filled the panorama
A town emerges out of the fog
Horses in the fog
Animals greeted our arrival at the agriturismo for lunch
Goats, dogs, sheep, cats added to the view at the amazing agriturismo where we had the most original and genuine meal at lunch, with the most splendid hosts and company.
