Artists in the hills of Assisi

A wonderful excursion in the afternoon today, with a special group of artists. About thirty of us climbed up a hillside in Assisi, not far from Perugia, and then, each artist placed his artwork that had been prepared before hand, on a rock. or in a tree, or on the ground, each far from the next. The clouds and the day moved on, changing the lighting and creating a marvelous backdrop for each of the art pieces.
It was cold, but there was red wine to keep us warm. Lots of pictures to take, and new people to meet, old friends to chat with. Extraordinary experience.

Toilet art

WHO would have thought of putting this fine art piece above a toilet?
I will give you a few guesses:

It is in a restaurant in Italy.
It is in an American restaurant.
It is in an Italian restaurant in Italy.
It is in a bar in Los Angeles.
It is in an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles.
YOU ARE RIGHT....THE LAST ONE!!!
Is THIS where art is supposed to end up?? Down the drain? OR......
is this one way of getting people to visit an art show?
However you look at it, when you are looking at this piece, you either have finished doing what you have to do, or you are waiting to do something.
And while you are waiting you can enjoy art!

Occupied by Art - Susan Chandel in Maine

Susan Chandel, artist, writer, musician, has come up witn an incredible idea in the state of Maine and here it is on Youtube: Occupied by Art.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAm1S7fVtJ8&feature=share

The film says it all, but let me just say what I feel about Susan.

Several years ago an artist I had met in NY sent me the link to a peace website, knowing I love to travel and love meeting people and getting them together as well. This website was the hub for artists, poets, writers, and not only. We were 22,000 people when the site fell apart, unfortunately, due to much internal confusion and even some ugly things that went on (as they can) behind the scenes.

It was a huge disappointment, because I and others had been involved in some very interesting groups, and online friendships had been created.

One of the most CREATIVE ladies I met on the site, and have kept in touch with, is SUSAN CHANDEL. She is so filled with ideas and a positive attitude, although she has been through so much in her life, her personality and lust for life has helped her get through very hard times.

We are still in touch every so often, and I did buy a book she wrote  "The Dream was to Soar Through Walls" of her poetry and memoirs.

Take a look at the video for a look through her artsy house in Maine and listen to her story.
Wonderful person, fabulous creative artist.

Hi there Susan, good luck to you and all you are doing.

Berlin, Germany - museums and a walk around town

Started my day always at this pastry shop....
Window displays are very immaginative in Berlin
This is made completely of Lego
Museums, just marvelous
Every kind of art you can imagine is in this city
The whole world admires the great art Berlin has to offer
Love this...
The architecture of each museum is totally different from the next
Magnificent, and with a coffee area to match -- like having coffee in a regal palace
So many museums in 5 days time. It is a city to admire, discover, and go back to.

Coloured pencil drawings

A little group I did the last couple of evenings...

Little colored pencil drawings

SO fun to make these little cartoon style drawings.
Ideas just sort of pop into my head while I draw.
I like to use paints too, but these were just sort of a lazy time, just sitting and coming up with these little faces, little birdies....fun!
I have always loved to draw girl's faces, even when I was a little girl. And plants, and people standing alone looking into the distance then....close up, a serious little girl thinking, reflecting, dreaming......

CREATIVE WORKSHOP N.2

JUST IN CASE YOU ARE IN TOWN....
On March 11 I will be giving a creative workshop where we will have lots of fun. I LOVE to use found objects, wire, cardboard, sponges, corks, etc to make all sorts of things.
And the morning of March 11 at 10am until 12.30 we will do lots of experimenting.
I like to make things that can be used at home to organize my work space, or in cupboards. And also I love to create gifts for people, that make them laugh, just because they weren't expecting to see something made out of so little!
Come over to Italy, I will be here (as usual) at ONNIVORA which is a splendid theater in Ponte Felcino which is just outside the center of town, in the industrial area. I see many people who follow this blog are from very far away indeed. That is just fine!! There is always space for you, so hope to see you there!
How many items can you find here.....well....for one, there are plenty of paper clips! And then, a wire for the face, a little screw for the eye, filled with a piece of sponge, like the mouth. The earring is the wooden ring for curtains, and the necklace is a big cork cut up. On black paper, and there you have it! Or should I say, there you have HER!

Art Project: new materials

Exciting, starting a project I have thought about for years.
And stimulating using materials I have never used. Like this rod cutter that cuts this meter-long rod that has threading on it. Have to make my own screws. Sounds funny, but it works.

Eccitante cominciare un nuovo progetto di cui penso da diversi anni.
E stimolante utilizzare materiali che non avevo mai usato. Come questo strumento che taglia barre filettate per poter fare delle vite. Suona strano, ma funziona.

New art project

Fun to make little figures made of wire

and cotton

and thin scothtape!

You can bend them

anyway you want!

Divertente fare delle figure pieghevole con fil di ferro, cottone, e lo scotch. E si piegano in qualsiasi modo!

Creative Workshop number two

My next workshop...should be fun!
We will work with wire, cardboard, corks, sponge, lots of things. Not only can one make decorations and artwork, but also solve little problems at home, using ones imagination.
At Onnivora, Ponte Felcino, Perugia, Italy. http://www.onnivora.org/

My first workshop at Onnivora

Sunday, January 15 at 10am until 12.30 I will be giving a workshop on creating with many different mediums.
Watercolours, acrylics, tempera, pastels, pencil, ink on paper, plastic and glass.
Come and try out many different techniques, and learn a bit about the different ways to use paints, etc.

Domenica il 15 Gennaio dalle ore 10 fino al 12.30 farò il mio primo laboratorio a Onnivora a Ponte Felcino, utilizzando tanti medium diversi. Acquarelli, acrilici, tempera, pastelli, matita, inchiostro, su carta plastica e vetro. Vieni a provare e sperimentare con diverse tecniche, ed impara dei diversi modi che puoi utilizzare il colore.

WHO AM I??

WHO AM I??
The best way to know who I am is to see what I create. Take a look at this blog or my other one regarding my art.

Double images....

Double images....
LOVE the double or triple image maker on my Nikon D80. Just set it, and then take two or three pics.

What's the weather like now in Perugia?

Cold one day, sunny the next. Cold in the house. But we still need our coats or lightweight ones or padded jackets outside. Chilly, and not sunny. I like it like this, no problem for me.
