Opening painting exhibition THE OTHER SIDE Oct 15, 2016, Marsciano

Happy to announce my painting exhibition, THE OTHER SIDE coming up October 15, 2016.
Below, press release and map of the event.

COMUNICATO STAMPA

Come corpo e come carattere, preziosa presenza e incompresa figura umana, forte e debole.

One great thing about being an artist

Today I had an enormous pleasure of having a show, and being an artist.
I had the fun, enlightment, pure joy of meeting several wonderful people, right there in my exhibition space.
I never would have imagine that a young man, probably somewhere in his late thirties, would be so pleasant, so interesting so enjoyabe and POSITIVE!
He had two broken fingers, had escaped having perhaps a very dangerous accident (instead of his fingers being crushed, his head could have been so!). But he was smiling, and happy that he had had good luck in not having worse happen.
Every word he said was posibive. HIs viewpoint on life was so extraordinary, and his desire to know about art, and his own artistic pursuits, was totally a surprise and a welcome from those people who are so negative, and have nothing to share.
It was really a wonderful encounter, and I felt that I had been taken somewhere into the past, far away from today's real world. Which I imagine is something to say for the people one meets nowadays.
So totally refreshing. And he too, enjoyed meeting me, which was a very nice thing.
Then...............
I met a very pleasant woman. So open and friendly and fun to speak too. She will return most likely, and we were both happy to meet one another.
Also, another elderly man, an extraordinary personality, an important man involved in so many different fields from sports, to the theater. Very good conversationalist. Excellent day, and I realized that having a show just may attract people interested in culture. And if they are really interested, then perhaps they too have a lot to offer themselves. For me, today, it was like that. And what a day it was!!

Simone Sabatino, Sarah Minciotti together with Stephanie

Great meeting with two talented musicians yesterday, singer, song-writer, poet Sarah Minciotti, and song-writer, singer, guitarist Simone Sabatino. The beauty of meeting in one's home, pulling out an old guitar, opening the piano, and testing songs and listening  to two newly-met musicians as they blended their talent for the first time.
Next month on the 26th of April, Simone and Sarah will accompany the opening of an exhibition I will be having in Perugia. More to come about it all soon.

Incontri ravviCINAti

The show is now open, last night being the first evening. It was quite a nice turnout and a very interesting program.
First there was a presentation by Nerio Marabini, who spoke about Chinese medicine, and various Chinese philosophies. It was very enjoyable and eye-opening.
The program should have been held outside, but due to a short rain, we had to pull all the chairs indoors! It could have been worse, but it wasn't too bad, the rain stopped, and the program of Chinese dinner and film from Taiwan continued outdoors. The evening was cool, actually cold, but we ended up having a little spumante at midnight, finishing up the evening with conversations with friends coming from far away, and from Perugia. Nice time, show is open until the end of September.

Artist, art shows

After dinner my parents and I went to an art show. First of all my parents are not young, not on the OUTSIDE. When you are 90 years old, it doesn't mean that you have to sit around at home, no...you can LIVE and take part in what is happening on the outside! It is a great thing to see, all these elder Americans enjoying, participating, and being active and creative.

We went to an art show about fifteen minutes from our house. It was a collective show, and the pieces, subject matter and even the medium seemed quite different from what I normally see in Italy.
LOTS of color, lots of humor and light-heartedness. Not all pieces, no, there were many serious pieces as well. But lots of pieces were fun, and much collage and use of unusual materials and techniques were used.

I met artists, and people who are promoting art. There are a lot of people who want culture and art to survive! They want artists to have places to show, and they work on this as a project, but not alone...they work together. It was a great thing to see, and to realize that there is more of a feeling of being united in working for things which one believes in. One woman stated that together one can get more done, and I believe that it is true.

The atmosphere was very nice, with outdoor food being served. Inside they had had performances, and I am sorry we came late and missed it.

Interesting and useful visit to this show, with contacts even to visit with artists at their studios.
Just wonderful.
Coming back to my roots. And being very happy to have this opportunity, to share in on the American life, I, an American, who lives so far away from her own culture. And coming back and finding it all new, something new to discover each day.

Me (serious)

Here I am last week at the Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds. This is an interesting installation of wooden doors, painted gold and with graffitti writing on them.
It was an extremely warm evening until late at night. However, Spoleto is always very beautiful, and lots of art shows to see.

WHO AM I??

WHO AM I??
The best way to know who I am is to see what I create. Take a look at this blog or my other one regarding my art.

Double images....

Double images....
LOVE the double or triple image maker on my Nikon D80. Just set it, and then take two or three pics.

What's the weather like now in Perugia?

Cold one day, sunny the next. Cold in the house. But we still need our coats or lightweight ones or padded jackets outside. Chilly, and not sunny. I like it like this, no problem for me.
